BEST PERFORMING STOCKS YEAR TO DATE

Studying the best performing stocks on a monthly, quarterly, and yearly basis is something I like to do to see if I can find commonalities.  By noticing and pinpointing what some of these stocks have in common allows you to reduce your universe of stocks by a great amount.  It allows you to build scans around the commonalities, it allows you to know what is important or not important.  Are earnings, price, volume, profit margins etc…important…First we will look at the best performing stocks year to date with only one criteria, average daily volume of over 100k shares.  Secondly, we will look at the best performing stocks year to to date that started the year trading above 15 dollars per share.

HERE IS WHAT WE KNOW:

  • This is one is should be obvious, they all have a market cap of less than 1 billion, but as a matter of fact they all have a market cap of less than 500 million.
  • All of them still trade under 10 dollars
    10 out the 10 stocks are U.S based. 
  • According to finviz 7 out the 10 stocks have negative profit margins.
  • 6 out the 10 stocks have no sales in the past 5 years.
  • All 10 stocks have less than 50 million shares in the float.

  • 8 Out the 10 stocks are classified as mid caps, 2-10 billion dollar market cap, 2 still have less than a 1 billion dollar market cap.
  • They are all U.S based companies.
  • 4 out of the 10 are technology stocks.
  • Only 5 out of the 10 stocks had sales in past 5 years of +20% yoy.
  • 5 out of the 10 had eps growth of +20% in the past 5 years.
  • Only 4 out of the 10 stocks expect their eps to increase by more than 20%.
  • 9 out of the 10 stocks were up over 50% in the last year, BSFT the lone stand out has not been public for more than 1 year, all 10 are up over 50% in the last 26 weeks ******MOMENTUM BEGETS MOMENTUM..
